A week of sport climbing on some of the most beautiful cliffs in Corsica, in very different landscapes, thanks to the varied geology.
This climbing holiday starts in Corte and takes us to the heart of the Corsican mountains, to the valleys of Restonica and Tavignano. We'll take advantage of the island to climb various cliffs overlooking the sea.
Climbing allows us to discover new landscapes and different rocks every day.
During the course we'll discover the cliffs of Richiusa and Caporalino. We'll also go climbing on the cliffs of Les Îles, near Île-Rousse, and in many other places where climbing is possible.
This climbing holiday is all about discovering the cliffs of Corsica.
You can travel from cliff to cliff either on the famous Corsican train or on an electric bike.
You’ll explore a variety of limestones and granites of ever-changing shapes.
The diversity of the cliffs will impress you on Monday and reassure you on Tuesday, but it will also allow you to make natural progress in climbing: precision of touch, appropriate posture and muscles that regenerate.
I will accompany you during this week of climbing on very different sites.
To get the most out of this week of sport climbing, you need to have a basic knowledge of climbing and a level of around FR 5b (UKT 4c, YDS 5.9).

Day 1: Settling into Corte
We meet in Corte in the late afternoon. After getting to know each other, we’ll go over everyone’s climbing equipment and fill in any gaps (harness, helmet, belay systems, carabiners, shoes).
You’ll then settle into your accommodation and finish the day with a convivial meal in a restaurant in Corte.
Day 2: Climbing in the Restonica valley.
First contact with the famous Corsican granite on an introductory cliff. We climb slabs to get used to climbing outdoors, relearn how to use our feet without looking for “coloured holds”, vary our balance and test our relationship with verticality.
We then climb other types of routes, such as beautiful dihedrals or more overhanging routes for the more experienced climbers. Throughout the day we check our technical skills so that we can climb and belay in complete safety.
In the evening we enjoy a refreshing beer together on a terrace in Cortenaise.
Day 3: Richiusa cliffs
We take the famous little Corsican train, the ‘trinichellu’, to the village of Bocognano. The train ride is breathtaking as the line winds through the mountains, over great engineering structures and through the Vizzavona forest. The cliff, set in a bucolic environment, offers a wide range of routes of all levels to help you perfect your climbing technique, footing, movement, balance and determination. We’ll start with some great beginners’ routes (from 4 to 5b, depending on your preference UK 4b – 4c YDS 5.6 – 5.9) or more difficult routes (from 5b to 8a UK 4c – 6c YDS 5.9 – 5.13b).
Day 4: Caporalino rock
An often forgotten facet of Corsica: limestone climbing.
Thanks to a rock that looks like a Gruyère cheese (an Emmental, of course – Gruyère doesn’t have holes!), it’s easier to read and the climbing is more like indoor climbing. At your leisure, you can test your climbing skills on more difficult routes and try your hand at lead climbing from grade 5 upwards. The day will focus on learning how to use a rope on long routes: setting up a belay and descending on a self-propelled rappel; role-playing on 2 pitch routes.
Day 5: Îles Cliff
We will travel to the small town of Île-Rousse for a day of active recreation: we will climb a small cliff overlooking the sea. We take advantage of this day for a relaxing climb, concentrating on rope manoeuvres and swimming in the turquoise waters surrounded by white sand.
In the evening we prepare for the next day’s big climb!
Day 6: Climb a long route
Depending on your level, you’ll climb a long route. The easiest is ‘l’arrête de Corte’, which overlooks the town. The pitches are easy and will allow you to perfect your rope techniques and route-finding skills in complete safety as you make your way through the fabulous tafoni (a type of hollowed-out rock, a typical form of erosion on the island).
If you’re at a higher level, you can browse through the climbing guides and choose another great route, one of the many in the Restonica Valley.
Day 7: Sorbellu Cliff, in the Restonica Valley
In top form to discover the largest climbing area in the Restonica Valley, with about sixty routes of all levels of difficulty. This important site is characterised by the diversity of its styles, with good positioning and balance helping to link the routes together. The splendid panorama of the surrounding mountains adds to the attraction of this sector.
At the end of your stay, you can book an extra night.
This programme is only an indication; I will constantly adapt the choice of climbing sites according to the weather and the level of the group, thanks to the many cliffs near Corte.
