Multi-pitch Corsica trip from Restonica to Bavella

A week’s holiday with six full days of multi-pitch climbing in Corsica. My aim is to introduce you to the iconic routes of the island’s two climbing paradises: Corte with its Restonica and Tavignano valleys, and the Solenzara region with the famous Aiguilles de Bavella.
To get the most out of the ‘Restonica to Bavella’ climb, you’ll need to have mastered climbing techniques and have a level of 5c (UK 5a  YDS 5.10a).
Part of the trip will take place in Corte, where you’ll spend four nights to climb three multi-pitch routes in the Tavignano or Restonica valleys. The last three nights will be spent in Bavella, by the sea. Don’t forget your swimsuit for the after-climb, as the Mediterranean awaits.
During the trip, you’ll be introduced to and improve your skills in multi-pitch climbing, both equipped and traditional, accompanied by a climbing instructor from Corte, who will be happy to help you discover the beauty of Corsica.
We’ll choose from some of Corsica’s most majestic long routes in Bavella and the Restonica valley.

Here’s a sneak preview of what’s in store for your climbing trip.

Day 1 Arrival in Corte
We meet in Corte, where the Altipiani office is located, in the late afternoon. After getting to know each other, we’ll go over everyone’s equipment and you’ll borrow what you need. Then we’ll prepare the bags and climbing gear for the next day. We’ll have a meal together in a restaurant in the town centre.
Day 2 Multi pitch in the Restonica Valley
We pick up our electric bikes (bike hire from Altipiani). After enjoying the scenery of the Restonica Valley, we leave our bikes for a short approach walk and start climbing the big route. The first part of our stay was in the Taffoni and gave us the opportunity to get to know each other. A few well-equipped belays give us the chance to brush up on safety and climbing techniques. Depending on your confidence on Corsican rock, you can climb in the lead. After this first multi-pitch in the Restonica valley, we head for Corte and meet for lunch in a restaurant in the Paoline village.
Days 3 and 4 Tavignano and Restonica valleysFor the next two days we’ll continue to climb multi-pitch routes in the Tavignano and Restonica valleys, just outside Corte. These valleys have a lot of routes in very sculpted granite, with tafoni or balls, or in very compact slabs.
We will dine in a different restaurant each evening to discover different cuisines.
After four nights in Corte, we pack our bags for the next day’s trip to Bavella in the south of Corsica.
Day 5 Bavella big wall climb
We travel to the Bavella massif where we climb classic and modern routes. We’ll climb the Aiguilles de Bavella, the big slabs of Teghie-Lisce, the tafoni of the Ferriates and the Tafunata di Paliri.
End of our tour of the Restonica and Bavella big walls.

PRICE TALKS

Price is often the deciding factor when choosing a holiday. Calculating the cost of a holiday is simple: my service, incidentals, accommodation, food and equipment.
There are different ways of selling a holiday. Very often an introductory price hides a lot of problems;
– The actual number of days spent on the rock!
– The number of nights,
– the obligation to add payment options,
– lower quality accommodation,
– meals at the cheapest restaurant…
Fortunately, none of this sounds like me. So I plan a holiday to try to enjoy it in the best possible conditions, with no surprises other than those that life throws at you.
To create a holiday is to want to exchange ideas, to live your passion by sharing it, to show off your region while listening to others, and finally to dream of those few days spent together on the rock.
