Multi pitch climbing in Corsica

If you’d like to climb one or more multi-pitch routes in Corsica, I can help you.
You’ve never climbed a big route before, but you have some experience and you dream of it. We’ll climb the Corte ridge on the Zurmulu summit.
If you’re already a 5c (UK 5a, YDS 5.10a) climber, we’ll climb the majestic Taffoni of Candella di l’Oro, in the Val Restonica.
You’ll be climbing on rock faces up to 6a/6a+ (5b, 5.10b). We’ll go to Bella Ciao, where you can lead the group on a well-equipped climbing route. The climbing is varied and the views of the Corsican mountains and the Restonica valley are breathtaking.
Not forgetting the splendid Tavignano Valley, which also offers some majestic routes: a dihedral that reminds you of Dülfer and many other surprises, such as granite balls.
Then there’s Ambata di Melu, in Porto, where you can climb overlooking the sea and the Calanques de Piana.
And, of course, Bavella, with its famous big routes like Dos de l’Éléphant, Jeff, Linea d’Ombra and classics like Punta Caletta, Perillat and many others.
I travel all over Corsica to share a fabulous time climbing these varied and magnificent walls. And if you like, I’ll take my camera with me to capture the highlights of our big route.

FAQ

What are multi-pitch climbing routes?

It’s like climbing a cliff, but you have to reach the top. In Corsica, sometimes you can even see the sea from up there 😊.
Long route climbing consists of climbing a series of pitches without returning to the ground: the lead climber climbs the route up to the belay, where he or she is belayed. The lead climber climbs the route to the belay station, where he ‘cows’ himself. He then belays his second(s) who climb up to him. The leader returns to the top to climb the second pitch to the belay and so on to the top of the route.
To get back down, climbers belay themselves and abseil down the ropes to the base of the main route.

You need to have a minimum of climbing experience: knowledge of safety manoeuvres such as roping up and belaying, but also knowledge of yourself and the sensations you experience when climbing in the great outdoors for several hours at a time.

A multi-pitch route is equipped with pitons or bolts. The climber climbs up the wall as if he or she were climbing a cliff, ‘clipping’ the points, which are a little further apart than in an indoor gym. Belays are also equipped with points, some of which are already connected.
In trad climbing, climbers use their own protection, which can be harnesses, belay devices or ‘friends’. Of course, there are also pre-positioned safety points to provide reassurance and help find the route. The second climber picks up all this valuable climbing equipment, which will be used on subsequent pitches.

We talk by email, phone or simply meet. We’ll talk about your climbing experience, your level, your expectations and your geographical location in Corsica. Together we’ll choose a major climbing route on a date that suits you.
Of course, we can always adapt the itinerary to various constraints such as weather, climbing level, etc.

Don’t have any climbing gear? We’ll provide everything you need: harness, helmet, lanyard and even climbing shoes.
Want to travel light? Bring your climbing shoes and we’ll lend you the rest of your equipment.
You’ve got your own climbing equipment and want to learn how to use it. We’ll check with you to make sure nothing is missing.
Corsica’s mountain shop, Altipiani, has all the equipment a climber could ever need or dream of 😊.
All climbers need to bring a supply of muesli bars or dried fruit, water and a good mood.

If you have a car, I’ll send you the address of the meeting point.
If not, I can adapt to your needs and pick you up from there. I can also collect you from the station by train.
